Your 2012 Proposed Property Tax Statements should be arriving for Hennepin County.

There was a lot anger and hype over the new Homestead Exclusion Tax that was coming out.  Many expected their taxes to go up as a result, including myself as I posted on this earlier.

I just received my 2012 Proposed Property Tax Statements today for 2 properties I own in Hennepin County.  Both properties the proposed tax went down.

Property 1:  Bloomington, MN  -.9%

Property 2: Minneapolis, MN  -2.3%

Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful they didn’t go up.  But what was all the fuss about?  All the finger pointing and political posturing?

What I really want to know is how all of you did on your Proposed Property Tax Statements.   Did your’s go up or down?  If so, by how much?

There are enough readers here to get a good sampling, you can remain anonymous if you wish – just want a gauge of how this whole Homestead Exclusion impacted taxes.

Please take a moment to comment.

  1. Got out of Minneapolis 2 years ago. My neighbor from my old neighborhood says their taxes went up last year and this year.

Enjoy the bike paths and $50,000 drinking fountains!
