Good Grief Charlie Brown

 A Charlie Brown Christmas Special.

I wanted to share a Christmas video as we head in to the Christmas weekend to put us more in the spirit.  The reason I chose Charlie Brown is because Charles Shulz was born and raised here and began his career in St Paul.

Charles Shulz was an east sider (St Paul, MN).  He attended St. Paul’s Richard Gordon Elementary School, where he skipped two half-grades.  He attended Central High School in St Paul.  His first cartoon was for the St Paul Pioneer Press from 1947-1950 called Li’l Folks, which began his career.

It is hard not to see Charles Shulz’s influence when you drive around the Twin Cities, especially in St Paul.  Mall of America’s Camp Snoopy to statues of Peanuts characters scattered around St Paul including a statue of Snoopy at his High School – Central High.

The Peanuts characters were derived from his childhood friends.  Pig-Pen later became an Edina Realty agent on the west side for a short time in the 1980′s, he lived up to his character - if he was eating it he was wearing it..  (there are 2 versions of who the real Pig-Pen was – I guess we will never know for sure..)

Enjoy!  Have a great Christmas weekend!
